For the first time, The US Food and Drug Administration has approved an over-the-counter birth control pill. Opill was initially approved for use in 1973 and has been found to be 93% effective in preventing pregnancy, when taken properly. While this is a departure for the United States, more than 100 countries across the globe offer oral contraceptives without a prescription. Prices and whether or not Opill will be covered by insurance have not been announced.
