Summary: Fast food is loaded with carbs, sugar, and salt and fat. When you eat food like this you can increase your risk of insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes because of all the sugar your body produces when you eat this stuff. Yes, your body can handle a sugar spike every now and again, but if you're eating fast food multiple times a day, everyday, then your body doesn't really have a chance to recover.

One 12 ounce can of soda contains your total recommended daily amount of sugar. There's usually a bunch of tans fat in certain types of fast food, like pizza and that's not good for you either as it can lower the good cholesterol in your body (the HDL) and raise the LDL or bad cholesterol. All that can increase your risk of heart disease or type 2 diabetes. Another problem with delicious fast food is that it sort of tricks your brain and belly. It tricks your stomach because scientists believe that when you eat really sugary carb heavy foods, that could make you hungrier when you go to get your next meal, and you'll probably get hungrier faster. There's even been some research into the fact that fast food can become a dangerous addiction.

One study showed that eating foods that are both high in fat and sugar actually changed the bacteria in your gut, which somehow influenced a loss in a person's ability to adapt and adjust to the ever-changing world around them. If you make a habit of eating fast food on a regular basis (a couple times a week every week) you're 51% more likely to experience some form of depression.

Turns out that people who eat fast food are a type. If you fall into this category you're also more likely to be single, work late hours, not get the proper does of fruits and veggies, and are a smoker.
